As salaam u alaikum Asjad Bhaijaan it has been brought to my attention that 2 of the muslim halal associations in South Africa have been misleading the muslim community with regards halal meat The same meat is also imported into Zimbabwe and Botswana It has also been mentioned to me although not yet confirmed that one of the abbatoirs in Botswana has been certified as halal but it produces haram meat at the same place The butchery where the meat is being sold might be muslim owned but it is not definite about the abbatoir My problem is not with the butchery but with the association certifying the meat as halal If this is true then surely their certifications at any of the other abbatoirs can not be trusted Can I as a single muslim lady buy the meat from a muslim owned butchery giving them the benefit of doubt that they have checked the source or should it be avoided totally If the meat is the one imported from South Africa shops where muslim staff are employed but the business does not necessarily belong to a muslim can this be given the benfeit of doubt and meat purchased from there As explained earlier giving the staff the benefit of doubt to have checked the source and certification A clarification on this matter will be greatly appreciated Jazak Allah al Khair
